Based in Denver, Rain Tree Houses's focus is affordable housing for low income LGBTQ, disabled, and elderly people by working in partnership with private and quasi-government organizations. Because housing is at the crux of so many issues, especially for trans, disabled, and elderly people.
Why the name Rain Tree?
It's inspired by the trees around Tania’s house here in Denver. They're stunning trees & once the land the home sits on knew they were committed to taking care of the soil and the ecosystem, these trees thrived. Since finding a name that isn't already in use can be difficult, she figured why not name the non-profit after a tree that if you give it the slightest bit of nourishment flourishes—seemed like a good example of how to support people who need just a little helping hand, shelter in this case, and what some, most even, will do with that support.
